Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Explains the ins and outs of ILL as well as tips.

Overview

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service offered by most college and university libraries that allows students to borrow books or obtain copies of articles that are not available in their own library but are available in other libraries.

If a student needs a book or article that is not available in our library, they can request it through ILL. The library will then search for the item in other libraries and, if it is found, will borrow it on the student's behalf. The student will be notified when the item arrives and can pick it up at their own library.

It's important to note that ILL is not a guaranteed service, as some libraries may not be willing to loan out certain items or may have restrictions on who can borrow them. Additionally, ILL requests may take some time to be fulfilled, so it's important to plan ahead and request materials well in advance of when they are needed.
