What's the difference between copyright and plagiarism?

A copyright violation occurs when someone copies, reproduces, distributes, displays or performs, or makes a derivate version of a copyrighted work.
Plagiarism is the term used for taking someone's words, ideas, or thoughts without giving credit to the original author.
