Comics vs. Graphic Novels

Comics are stylized sequential art, including highly detailed, colorful pieces with fantastical characters, to simpler black and white drawings. Comics are typically very short and only take up a few boxes, but they are published on a regular, continuous schedule. Graphic novels have the same stylized, sequential art, but include a longer, more comprehensive storyline. While graphic novels often come in multiple volumes, the plotline in each is considered complete.
