What is CSE?
The CSE Manual was created to support those in the fields of natural and physical sciences. It uses three different citation styles:
-
Citation-Sequence
- This system uses superscripted numbers (such as¹) for in-text citations that correspond to a matching reference list. This is similar to the AMA format.
-
Name-Year
- This system uses parenthetical in-text citations using the author's name and publication year. Reference list is alphabetized by author's last name. This style is similar to APA format and is the most used by Tarleton professors.
-
Citation-Name
- Uses superscripted numbers similar to Citation-Sequence but organizes the reference list by author's last name with the corresponding citation number added to the beginning of the reference.
